Dr. OLOWOGBON, Toyin Samuel is a Researcher and Agricultural Economist with the Centre for Sustainable Agricultural Empowerment. OLOWOGBON, Toyin holds a Master’s and Ph.D. Degrees in Agricultural Economics from the University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria. He has over 13years’ professional experience in his area of research interest. He is passionate about engaging development studies as a tool for evidence-based policymaking and advocacy in the agricultural sector. He is an astute climate change researcher in Africa, he is interested in issues relating to climate justice, climate change adaption, and resilience in Africa. He was an invited Climate Change Expert by the African Union Commission to participate in the Consultative Workshop on the Draft of African climate Change Strategy for 2020-2030; held in Darka Senegal 25-27 August 2021.
He has ample hands-on experience in experimental economics designing and analyzing impact evaluations with a bias for agriculture, rural development, development economics, and social protection interventions. He is skillful at planning, design implementation, and execution of both qualitative and quantitative research. He has published widely in local and international academic outlets. He has served as Principal Investigator for several funded projects including a study that generated a research output of an agricultural health game board for agricultural health literacy in Nigeria. He is a member of many professional organizations including Young African Researchers in Agriculture, African, African Association of Agricultural Economists, Young Professionals’ Platform for Agricultural Research for Development, Agriculture Nutrition, and Health Academy among others.
He is also a referee for several reputable journals including the World Development Journal, International Journal of Development Issues, Journal of Agricultural Safety and Health among others. He is 2019, Winner of the Young African Innovators (West Africa) Award by RUFORUM, a 2019 Winner, the YALI Alumni Innovative Fund (YAIF) by USAID, and a 2020 Young African Researchers in Agriculture Research Grant Awardee. 2020 Winner of the International Centre for Evaluation and Development Proposal Development Grant. 2021 Green Talent Awardee by the German Ministry of Education and Research. 2021 Winner of the Roddenberry Foundation Catalyst Grant. He conceptualized the project and his expertise has been adequately demonstrated in the design and implementation of the project.
