Bad weather resulting from climate change impacts has become a severe risk to crop farmers globally. This has threatened the income and livelihoods of these farmers. With the adverse weather events, most of these farmers are deprived of credit access as most banks demand insurance coverage to issue out credits to farmers. Under these climate change-induced conditions, our weather index micro-insurance offers a means of cushioning farmers against adverse financial effects of crop failures, as weather index insurance is a financial instrument that protects farmers from crop losses due to erratic weather.
